I am cross-posting this message to this list because there may be people with students interested in interactive systems (or who _are_ interested students) here, though this is not quite a dance program. Apologies if it is too off-topic. Hi everyone, For those of you who are in or nearby academia - If you know of any undergraduate students who are looking for summer work, the research group that I work for at UCLA is looking for one or two undergraduates with either computer programming or electronics skills and experience or interest in the performing arts, for design and testing of interactive systems for use in theater productions next year. This is NOT technical theater work per se, but electronics development and/or programming in a research group in our School of Theater, Film and Television. People with a traditional technical theater background who are interested in this sort of thing are also welcome to contact us, as are those with training in computer science or engineering. The work is organized through the UCLA Summer Research Program and includes room, board, $450 out-of-state travel allowance, and a $2000 stipend. The program begins June 26, 2000 and ends August 18, 2000. For more info on SRP: http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/asis/srp/srpintro.htm The schedule will be fairly flexible and it's not a bad way to spend some time in Southern California for the summer. The deadline for application is March 1. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please have them email me privately at <jburke@hypermedia.ucla.edu> by mid-February. I'd be happy to provide more details on our project and the Summer Research Program itself. Back to lurking... Regards, Jeff Burke UCLA HyperMedia Studio jburke@hypermedia.ucla.edu
