From the dance-tech moderator. Do NOT open the attachment that accompanied the message called "Cellpadding" that was distributed to the dance-tech list yesterday! It contains a form of the Klez virus. It does not affect Macintosh computers, but will infect Windows systems. Since it appears that this message was sent inadvertently by a subscriber to the dance-tech list, Windows users should make sure their virus software is completely up-to-date and should consider running a Klez removal tool. Here is a good one: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.removal.tool.html This virus normally sends mail, altering the From address, pretending to be sent from another person. I've been blocking at least one infected message a day for the last month, but I believe this virus bypassed the security of the list by pretending to be me. More information regarding this virus can be found here: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.gen@mm.html I am suspending all dance-tech traffic from the list for at least a few days while I move it to my own server where I can block all attachments. This is the only foolproof way to prevent this kind of thing in the future. Sorry for any inconvenience. I'll send a note to the list as soon as everything is running again.
