Senior Research Fellows, Performance Arts: Live Art

Two posts. Permanent: 0.4 - 0.8 negotiable
£25,710 - £34,191 (pro rata)

Two Senior Research Fellows are required to work within the Performance Arts
Research Unit.

The major focus of our research work is on the development and empirical
evaluation of Live Art. Candidate's prior experience and qualifications
should therefore have a clear relevance to Live Art studies: the theory,
practice and cross-fertilization between disciplines that has resulted in
radical performance and Live Art in the late C20th and early C21st.
Primarily this might be candidates who have specialized in contemporary
performance modes, time-based events, moving image, fine art, or related
fields such as philosophy, communication studies, 'sci-art' developments
etc. Our wider research specialisms include live art practice as well as
academic, theoretical and critical emphases and a concentration on
interdisciplinary explorations such as the uses of digital technology in
performance, movement and contemporary performance practice, music/sound
composition or cross-disciplinary practice involving other subject areas
e.g. science/engineering technology.

The successful candidates are expected to:

á Contribute to the existing research culture within NTSAD
Performance and Live Art.

á Facilitate the development, delivery and production of research
outcomes of national/international significance.

á Assist in the planning, development and delivery of performance
and live art events and activities at TNTU including making
contributions to research seminars and relevant
postgraduate/undergraduate courses (course teaching maximum 3 hours
per week, pro-rata).

Candidates must be educated to good Honours degree level and possess a
postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject; a PhD qualification is
highly desirable.

Candidates should have a record of appropriate publications and a minimum of
three years research experience in a higher education environment including
previous experience of supervising MPhil/PhD students to successful
completion in a performance related topic.

Candidates should be familiar with higher education funding structures and
be aware of external sources of research funding; it is also desirable that
you are familiar with contemporary research methodologies and current
research assessment practice within UK universities.
