Sensuous Geographies "The piece is so inventive and original that you surrender easily to its infinite possibilities." -The Guardian January 28-29, 2004 ALISTAIR MACDONALD AND SARAH RUBIDGE SENSUOUS GEOGRAPHIES an interactive installation by Sarah Rubidge and Alistair MacDonald is being mounted in the Redcat Theatre (CalArts Theatre) in the Walt Disney Concert Hall Los Angeles, USA on January 28th and 29th between 6.30 - 10.30pm (advertised sessions 6.30 and 8.30) Cost $5 per person per evening . Sensuous Geographies is an immersive, responsive audio-visual installation into which people are invited to discover, generate and manipulate rich sensual worlds of sound and colour. Sensuous Geographies is both a space for play, and a meditative, even ritual, space in which the barriers between the audience and the art-work are truly dissolved. Visitors to Sensuous Geographies can choose both to enter the active space, and to wander through the installation, observing the movement of those who are taking advantage of the interactive environment. Sensuous Geographies comprises a collection of rich polyphonic sound worlds which are brought to being through the actions of its visitorsÐthe public. As they move into and through the installation space visitors generate and influence the quality of both individual musical layers and the overall texture of the sound environment. At the same time shadowy virtual echoes of the visitors float in and out of vision in the installation environment. Those visitors who choose to interact with the installation are clothed in richly coloured costumes before they enter the space. Once robed, their movement as individuals begins to have an effect on the sound within the installation, and as they enter the interactive space they become a part of the visual environment, integral elements of the visual environment, not merely human triggers of images and sound. http://redcatweb.org/season/music/sensuousgeographies.html We would love to see you there. We will be there throughout each of the sessions and are happy to talk to people about the installation during the course of the evening. Please make yourself know to us if you would like to talk, or if you know us, or one of our colleagues. Also tell any friends/colleagues who might be interested in coming along. The installation has proved to be of interest to people from all artistic disciplines, as well as a more general public. see you soon sarah --Apple-Mail-4--753415546-- ---------------------------------------- The Dance-Tech mailing list has recently moved to a new address.
