Perhaps the larger question is: does art reflect historical context?

Hello out there.
I have a question for anyone.
I have been studying Butoh since about 1990 with various artists who
have come to the United States..as well as performing with Katsura
Kan at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I have read everything I can
get my hands on about Butoh but I have yet to find the reference to
this question that gets asked of me all the time...A rumor that
Butoh is a direct outcropping from the bombing of Japan during W.W.II.

I have never found any link and I believe it is a myth started by
some press person years ago.
What do you think?

Thanks -Jennifer Hicks (Boston, USA)
