Dance Theater Workshop requests proposals for the 2005 Digital
Fellowship program. The
Digital Fellows are a peer group of artists, researchers and
technologists whose work explores
the convergence of dance and technology. The Digital Fellows Program
at Dance Theater
Workshop provides a unique environment of group mentoring,
constructive feedback and
monetary support -- all elements crucial to the growth of artistic
development. Over the course of
one year the Fellows work on individual projects and participate in
DTW sponsored public forums
that discuss the practical and creative applications of digital
technology in the art-making process.
In support of research and development, the Digital Fellows program
at DTW provides an artist
stipend of $3,000 for individuals and up to $5,000 for collaborative
teams as well as access to
DTW's computer art lab which houses four networked Macintosh systems
complete with video,
graphics and sound applications as well as other analogue and digital
input and output devices.
A complete list of available resources will be provided once the
Fellows have been selected.
Grants can support a broad range of projects involving, but not
limited to: the research and
development of online/virtual communities, hardware/software systems,
archival systems, digital
art (video, animation and net art) and the development of performance
projects that incorporate
the use of technology. Collaborative projects between artists and
technologists are encouraged
and priority will be given to projects that focus on process rather
than an end product. DTW
Digital supports experiments with art and technology that place
aesthetics and creativity above
the capabilities of the computer while pushing the boundaries of this
constantly evolving art form.

Fellowships are one year in length and include:
